Just in case you guys start thinking i got stuck in China and become a Da Lu Mei, i better start updating you guys on my journey to China!
Firstly on the 24th December, christmas eve. Had a trip to Tai Po where they have the wishing tree. THe all so famous Wishing Tree shown in most Hong KOng movies. Attempted to try throwing the orange up onto the tree.. it is harder than i expected..DARN! Made our way down to Ladies Street at Mong Kok. My, it is such an overwhelming place, filled with people sqeezing our way through. Took a train down to Times Square to have dinner at a Shanghainese restaurant. REally Yummy! Christmas is really fun in Hong Kong, its super duper crowded. Everywhere is filled with people and all i could smell was just the breathe of the person next to me. I finally got a chance to see what it means by ren shan ren hai. Spend christmas in the train with thousand of people packed in the train, felt like a sardine in a can.
25th december, what a way to spend chrsitmas. My white christmas dream can only be left till the next time, at least i spend christmas in the cold. WEnt to China early in the morning to my mum's hometown. Shan Tou! Took a 4 hour bus ride from shen zhen over, my butt really hurts sitting on the chair thankfully they played a movie to entertain us plus some Karaoke music videos. At the immigration, there were tons of people flocking to the immigration, for an instance i felt like one of the refugee fleeing away from China awaiting at the immigration, chased up the buses by the police. Oh my its like a time machine back in time. Oh my, the traffic in China is extremely scary. The cars moved like they have are dancing into a formation, criss-crossing at the junctions. Cars coming from 4 directions, including people and trishaws moving together at the same time. I am amazed at the fact that i haven seen any accidents yet with the way they are driving. Traffic lights are there on display and road lines to divide the roads are hardly visible. Driving against the traffic seems to be a common sight too. So Lawless and Rulesless! WEnt to my mother's cousin house to visit. My they are super rich with a whole plot of land and they have a business making batteries and stainless steel pots and pans. So cool! WEnt to eat dinner at a restaurant there and had a taste of what teochew food really is... Went for a little stroll at night to see the nights scene... All i can say is that, its like a GHOST town on christmas day. Took us a while to be able to find one of those road side hawker to have supper. REally brought me back 50 years ago in time. Indeed, i really find it super cool and exciting to be able to experience what a village is like after being a city girl for so long.. Finally got a taste of being a village girl!
